Hydraulic dampers

A hydraulic damper is an energy-converting machine element that converts the kinetic energy of the elements connected to it into thermal energy, i.e. heat. The use of a shock absorber is recommended for applications where the damaging effects of strong, sustained vibration are to be avoided, or where the velocity of a moving mass is to be damped where accidental incidental or planned recurrent impact would lead to premature failure of the product. Their use is also popular for preventing the fall of swinging doors.
